Northumberland Street 1935

Northumberland Street is probably the busiest shopping area in Newcastle. Marks and Spencer and Fenwicks have their main entrances on this street.

In 1935 it was still used by traffic, with trams rattling up and down the thoroughfare.

Nowadays, in terms of the cost of rent per square metre, it is the most expensive location in the UK to own a shop.
