Fenwicks 1930s
John James Fenwick (1846-1905) founded the store in 1882. He came from the Yorkshire Dales and had ten brothers and sisters.
In this picture a tram glides past the impressive Fenwick front facade. The tram advertises Binns another north east department store.
The Fenwick empire is now eleven stores strong, including two Bentalls and Williams & Griffin.
