The Bigg Market today is infamous for it's boisterous nightlife and noisy bars.

In 1928 the Bigg Market was much more of a busy retail sector.

As well as the open air barrows selling fruit and vegetables you can see the frontage of Bainbridges. One of Newcastle's most famous department stores founded in 1838.
