He has spent the last twenty years exploring the portrayal of northern England through the use of watercolour.

The environment of industrial northern England is rich in subject matter. Consequently John has taken on all kinds of projects and commissions, from buildings to sporting subjects.

His love of the sea and tall ships is an important part of his recent work.
